What is Fixed Wireless (W.I.S.P.) ?

Fixed wireless is the process of connecting two fixed locations together with a radio for a wireless link. The purpose of fixed wireless is to enable communications between two locations. Dig deeper by reading this PC World article.

Is this Technology Reliable & Secure?

Yes, we own our entire network. Unlike our wired competitors, we do not rent wires from the Phone Company. Since we are not beholden to the phone company, we guarantee 99.99% uptime. Our signal is protected by AES 256 Encryption, the same level used by the U.S. Department of Defense.

Is Wireless as fast as DSL or Cable?

Absolutely. Because we aren’t restricted by hard wires, wireless can be as fast or as slow as you need it to be. Our speeds can be much faster and reliable than both cable and DSL.

Does Bad Weather Affect the Signal?

Our signal operates on the 5Ghz bandwith which is not effected by weather. However, there is always the chance of power outages, and power surges to have a negative effect on the service (the radio needs power to work).

No Set-up Fees, Contracts, or Equipment to Buy?

Yes that is correct. Unlike our competitors, we don’t hold the customer down with hidden fees, silly contracts or equipment fees. X1 is turnkey for our standard packages. Custom packages and integrations may require additional equipment to service your needs.

How large is the Dish that must be placed on my building?

The standard antennas we use range in size from a 5 inch x 5 inch antenna to a 13 inch x 13 inch antenna. However, longer distance links could require slightly larger antennas. These are provided free of charge to our customers, as well as the installation and service connection for our standard packages.

What if I have Service Issues?

In the rare event of service interruption or connection issues, X1 is one call away. When you call X1, you’re talking directly to us, not a third-party service.

I’m interested! How do I get service?

The first step is for X1 to make sure we can reac you. Our signals are broadcast from the top of Winston Tower (downtown Winston-Salem) and can reach up to nearly 5 miles in range. We’d love to have your business, so click the button below to request a free site survey.
